Recycling of all waste products All our processed tree debris from pruning and tree removals work is reused as forest mulch for landscape applications and furthermore for composting into valuable soils. All useable larger trunk sections are stockpiled for slab and timber milling use which helps to lock the stored carbon within. All smaller hardwood logs sections are stock pilled and cured for firewood and food smoking uses. We also salvage any unique timber pieces that can be used in wood turning which we donate to local community men’s shed programs or for use in timber sculpture works where possible. We also reclaim various hollow timber sections when encountered for reuse as wildlife habitat and nesting box creation purposes. Planting and natural rejuvenation we actively promote replacement tree planting programs which help offset any net canopy or native tree loss incurred as part of our daily business operations.
Environmentally friendly productsIn sensitive areas we use 100% biodegradable chainsaw bar oil products to avoid contaminating the environment and we always promote the use natural treatments for the poisoning of cut trees and vegetation when suitable. Utilise battery powered chainsaws or hand tools which lower our overall emission output and these tools are charged using our depots in house solar system.
Working towards carbon neutral we donate and re-plant hundreds of trees per year as part of our community group involvement which helps offset our greenhouse gas emissions from equipment use. One day we aspire to make the switch to Bio-diesel or natural gas powered trucks and equipment to further reduce our impact.Preservation.
When possible and safe we will advise towards the preservation of significant trees and vegetation but as we are customer focused our clients’ specific needs and requirements will always come first.
Sometimes trees just need to go If a significant tree or native vegetation is required to be removed we can provide a 1:1 - 1:2 * free native tube stock replacement and re-planting service to offset canopy loss. If a replacement tree is not suitable for our client’s property or needs we tally the total of trees removed and contribute these at a later date within one of our community tree planting events like National Tree Day for schools. To date we have re-planted over 5000 trees throughout the greater Brisbane area and continue to contribute daily to minimise our impacts to the local environment. On occasions large established trees can become unsafe presenting a risk to you or your property and a removal may be the best option. We are fully qualified to assess large trees health and structure and can help guide you to making the best informed decision. We always endeavor to protect significant trees when possible and can offer alternative options to undertaking a complete removal if desired. Some of our risk mitigation and tree preservation options include,
Retrenchment pruningthis is the process of carefully reducing the trees structure to lower the physical loading on the branches, trunks and root systems. This process when appropriate involves cautious consideration to the trees overall health, species, position, environmental conditions and the client’s desired outcome long-term.
Habitat creation pruning this option is considered when a large tree has died or is in poor health and has existing or potential hollow/perch value. Hollows in trees provide important nesting and shelter for most native Australian wildlife and it is always best to preserve this feature within a tree if possible and safe to do so.
Hollow creation serviceArtificial hollow box installation within a tree or created using the trees existing trunk/branch structure with the use of specialized carving and chainsaw boring techniques. We can advise on which process is best suited to your tree and the local environment in which it could benefit.
Happy Trees grow from Healthy Soils at Sustainable Tree Care
We are pioneers in the science of soil health and work closely with new research developed throughout the world to help offer your trees the best chance in life. We can help your young trees reach their potential or sustain an established tree well into the future. Trees in the urban environment face a constant struggle to survive compared to trees in a natural forest setting. Urban trees endure an array of urban vectors including soil compaction from vehicles and pedestrian traffic which can reduce the small air pockets within leading to impervious growing conditions. They face other challenges like reduced natural mulch and organic matter accumulation, competition from exotic grasses and weeds, limited growing conditions and space, root damage from development, pollution and pesticide contamination, removed top soil layers from development and erosion, tree vandalism and general poor treatment. The list goes on an on… We are excited to announce our new specialised service to help promote healthier trees and gardens throughout Brisbane and the Redlands Coast. Introducing Sustainable Tree Cares “Soil Invigoration Treatments”
The modified urban soil environment presents many difficult challenges for our trees and gardens to sustain the healthy and natural growing conditions they desire. With soil compaction, removed natural composting cycle, competing turf scapes, herbicide contamination and development impacting the health of many landscape soils we offer non-invasive treatments that promote and nurture a healthy below ground system for your valued trees and gardens.
Our Deep Root Fertilization brings the life back to harsh ground conditions by enriching the crucial soil profiles with an injection of water, air, organic fertiliser, soil re builders, conditioners and bio control in one application. Our treatments instantly deliver plant available nutrients in a chemical free organic form to start the process of detoxifying, inoculating and rebuilding your landscapes soil. The unique PH neutral formula we use contains a rich variety of organic fertilizers including potent worm casting, brewed compost tea, kelp solution, fish emulsion, natural trace elements and sugar rich molasses to help promote and feed the soil food web. Our derived worm extract is a living product that is packed full of dormant micro-organisms, these microbes are ready to start restoring degraded soils and accelerate the process of cycling available nutrient and minerals into accessible organic forms for your trees and gardens. The specialised liquid formula is injected into the top 150-250mm soil profile using a pressurised probe surrounding trees and gardens feeder root systems. With the process of deep soil injection the treatment elevates compaction by loosening the ground and providing improved pore space. This loosing of the soil allows better water penetration and boosts the availability of gaseous exchange thus promoting accelerated root growth and microbial development.
Applications may include Improve the growth rate of trees and gardensTrees suffering from signs of poor health and pest vulnerability Trees in harsh or modified environmentsNewly planted or transplanted treesTrees that are impacted by development or root damageMature trees requiring additional sustenance Improvement of poor soil conditions Healthy trees need healthy soilsInstantaneous boost to the life of your vegetation and soil with long lasting effects and benefits. This specialised treatment may not be appropriate for all established trees suffering from symptoms of declining health. It is always advised to have an experienced and minimum diploma qualified level 5 Arborist conduct an assessment of your trees health, structure and environment before recommending any soil invigoration treatment.
Our treatments are totally organic and safe to use around pets and environmentally sensitive areas.
